Frank Smith

FATCO Offroad delivers professionally guided multi-day offroad tours across Utah, Arizona, and Nevada for drivers who want more than a basic trail ride. Based in Hurricane, Utah near Zion National Park, FATCO specializes in BYOV (bring your own vehicle) expedition-style experiences designed for Jeep owners, side-by-side drivers, overlanders, and motorcycle riders looking to explore remote terrain with expert guidance and full logistical support. Guide Frank has been leading outdoor trips since 1984, building decades of firsthand trail knowledge throughout the Southwest long before GPS systems mapped today’s routes. What started with mountain biking and outdoor exploration evolved into one of the region’s most unique guided offroad tour operations. His deep understanding of remote backcountry routes, trail systems, weather patterns, and route connections allows guests to experience areas many travelers would never confidently navigate alone. Unlike typical Zion jeep tours or short loop rides, FATCO Offroad focuses on multi-day jeep tours and point-to-point overland travel across some of the most rugged and scenic areas in the country. Tours may travel through Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, the Grand Canyon region, Escalante, Mt. Carmel, Mesquite, and remote desert backcountry routes few visitors ever reach. Guests bring their own vehicles while FATCO handles the difficult parts of the trip. Every guided offroad tour includes route planning, navigation, daily trail lunches, safety coordination, and support infrastructure. Groups travel with both lead and sweep guide vehicles while a fully equipped chase truck follows as a rolling support unit carrying tools, spare parts, recovery equipment, communication systems, and emergency supplies. Safety, flexibility, and preparation are central to every tour. Routes are adjusted based on weather, terrain conditions, and group experience levels, with backup plans always available. Whether traveling in a Jeep, side-by-side, truck, or adventure motorcycle, guests can focus on the experience while FATCO manages the logistics behind the scenes. FATCO Offroad is ideal for families, friends, clubs, and overland groups searching for Utah offroad tours with real regional expertise and professional support. From Zion jeep tours to Grand Canyon routes and multi-state expeditions, every trip is built around authentic trail knowledge, reliable operations, and memorable time spent exploring the Southwest.

How much do FATCO Offroad tours cost?
Pricing for FATCO Offroad varies depending on the trip length, route, and group size. Most Utah offroad tours are structured as multi-day experiences with vehicle-based pricing since guests bring their own Jeeps, side-by-sides, or motorcycles. Costs are typically set per vehicle and include full guide support, logistics coordination, and chase truck assistance throughout the journey.
What types of offroad trips do you offer?
FATCO Offroad specializes in multi-day expedition-style trips across Southern Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. Popular options include Zion corridor routes, Cloverleaf tours, and the signature NAU (Nevada–Utah–Arizona) expedition. These Zion jeep tours and overland-style routes are designed for point-to-point travel rather than simple loop rides.
What is included in the trip?
Every trip includes professional lead and sweep guides, full trail navigation, safety briefings, daily on-trail lunch, and support from a dedicated chase truck. The chase truck carries recovery gear, spare parts, and emergency tools to support the group throughout the journey. Full logistics coordination is handled so guests can focus on the experience.
What should I bring on a FATCO Offroad trip?
Guests should bring their offroad-ready vehicle, valid identification, personal gear, weather-appropriate clothing, and plenty of water. Since these are multi-day offroad tours, it’s also recommended to bring overnight essentials, snacks, and any personal recovery equipment you prefer for added comfort and preparedness.
Do I need experience to join a tour?
No prior offroad experience is required. FATCO Offroad welcomes beginners, families, and experienced drivers alike. Every trip includes a safety briefing and structured convoy format to ensure everyone stays comfortable and supported throughout the journey, even on more technical terrain.
What is the best time of year for offroad tours in Utah?
The best time for Zion jeep tours and Southern Utah offroad travel is typically spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) when temperatures are moderate and trail conditions are ideal. Summer trips are still available but can be hotter in desert regions, while winter routes depend on weather and elevation.
Where do the trips start and end?
Most trips begin in Hurricane, Utah, where guests meet at a designated hotel for check-in and safety briefing. From there, routes travel across multiple regions including Zion National Park corridors, Escalante, and areas near the Grand Canyon before ending at a different destination depending on the itinerary.
Are meals and lodging included?
Daily trail lunch is included on all tours, but lodging and most meals outside of lunch are not bundled. FATCO Offroad coordinates hotels for guests, ensuring group consistency and convenience, but travelers pay for accommodations separately. This keeps the experience flexible while still fully supported.
How many vehicles are required for a trip to run?
Most group departures require a minimum number of participating vehicles, typically around 8, to ensure a proper convoy experience. Groups can range up to 20 vehicles depending on the route. This structure helps maintain safety, flow, and communication across all Utah offroad tours.
